Comfort Shouldn't Cost More Than It Has To.
Your heating and cooling equipment may be working harder than necessary. Discover how modern HVAC technology, proper system sizing, and thoughtful upgrades can improve home comfort while potentially reducing energy consumption.
Modern HVAC Technology
Variable-speed compressors, communicating equipment, and smarter controls have changed what's possible for home comfort.
Better Energy Performance
Correctly sized, well-installed equipment does the job with less wasted energy — the rating on the box is only part of the story.
Improved Home Comfort
Efficiency and comfort go together — better humidity control, steadier temperatures, and quieter operation.
Why HVAC energy efficiency matters
Heating and cooling typically account for a large share of a home's total energy use. Equipment age, sizing, installation quality, and maintenance history all affect how much energy your system actually uses to keep you comfortable — not just the efficiency rating printed on it.
- Older or poorly maintained systems often work harder than necessary to deliver the same comfort
- Correct sizing and installation quality affect real-world performance as much as the equipment rating
- Efficiency and comfort — steadier temperatures, better humidity control — usually improve together
- Understanding your options helps you make an informed decision, whether that's a repair, a tune-up, or eventually a replacement

Heat Pumps
Move heat instead of generating it — often a strong fit for our climate.

A high-efficiency system only performs like one when it's sized, installed, and commissioned correctly. Real-world performance depends on more than the rating printed on the equipment.
Proper Sizing
A real heating and cooling load calculation for your home — not a rule of thumb.
Ductwork & Airflow
Leaky or undersized ductwork can undercut even premium equipment.
Correct Configuration
Equipment set up to match your home's actual load and layout.
Commissioning & Verification
Confirming the system actually performs as intended before we call the job done.
This connects directly to our service philosophy: Inspect. Explain. Price. Verify. Specific installation guarantees or procedural commitments will be published once approved internally.
Standard vs. higher-efficiency equipment
A general comparison structure — pricing, ratings, and rebate figures below are placeholders until confirmed for your specific project. The most expensive option isn't automatically the best financial choice for every home.
| Standard System | Higher-Efficiency System | Premium Comfort System | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Best for | Meets current code-minimum efficiency requirements. | Above-minimum efficiency, typically two-stage or enhanced single-stage equipment. | Top-tier variable-speed/inverter equipment with the most comfort features. |

Rebate amounts, when confirmed, reflect incentives applied after installation — not a discount subtracted from the amount due upfront, unless a specific mechanism for that has been approved.
Energy consumption vs. actual utility-bill savings
A higher efficiency rating means a system uses less energy to produce the same amount of heating or cooling — but your actual utility bill also depends on your home's insulation and air sealing, local utility rates, weather during the billing period, household usage habits, and how correctly the system was sized and installed.
Because of that, we don't publish specific "you'll save $X per year" promises — anyone who does is guessing on your behalf. What we can do is walk through your specific situation and give you a realistic picture before you decide.
Available rebates and incentives
Duke Energy Carolinas customers may qualify for Duke Energy's Smart $aver program on eligible high-efficiency equipment, and separately, North Carolina homeowners may have access to Energy Saver NC. Eligibility and amounts are determined by each program, not by us.

Efficiency & savings questions
Not automatically. It depends on your home's insulation, how many hours you run heating/cooling, local energy rates, and how long you plan to stay. We'll walk through the real numbers rather than assume.
No — proper maintenance and correct operation of your existing system also affect efficiency. Replacement is one option among several.
A short set of questions about your equipment and goals. It's preliminary and general — not a substitute for an in-person evaluation — and helps us prepare before we talk with you.
No. Rebate and incentive programs are administered by their own organizations (like Duke Energy or the State of North Carolina), and eligibility, application, and approval are determined by those programs — not by us.
